Russia has applied to the US for 56 visas for diplomats to attend the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The US has yet to release a single document.
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, wrote in a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, US visa failure ‘dangerous’.
“Washington has consistently refused visas to Russian delegations to UN events in recent months,” Nebenzia wrote.

Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations asked Guterres to “once again remind the US authorities to immediately issue the necessary visas to all accompanying persons, including Russian representatives and Russian journalists.”
Both Guterres and senior UN officials are in close contact with the US and Russia, UN spokesman Eri Kaneko said.
Relations between the United States and Russia deteriorated significantly when Russian troops launched an invasion of Ukraine in February.
