Tampa, Florida – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Tom Brady Fined $11,139 for attempting a defensive end kick for the Atlanta Falcons Grady Jarrett on Kiss in the Bucs’ 21-15 victory over the Hawks last week, sources tell ESPN’s Adam Shifter.
The NFL notified Brady of the fine Friday after reviewing the play in which Jarrett was flagged for undue coarseness of firing Brady to the ground. In response, Brady kicked his foot on the floor but apparently made no contact with Jarrett.
Jarrett was flagged for intimidating passers-by on a controversial call in third and fifth before 3:03 left, giving the Bucs new life at Atlanta 32, allowing the Bucs to close out the game.
The fine for an NFL hit/kick/kick is $11,139 for the first foul and $16444 for the second offense.
This isn’t the first time Brady has been fined for trying to kick another player. In 2013, Brady was fined $10,000 for attempting to fire Ed Reed, the former Baltimore Ravens’ safety.
Bucs coach Todd Bowles said he was unaware of the kick. On Friday, the corner player was ruled out Sean Murphy Bunting and safety Logan Ryan From Sunday’s Week 6 game at Pittsburgh Steelers.
Falcons coach Arthur Smith had no comment when asked about Brady’s fine on Friday.
