It’s been more than seven months since Kansas rallied to beat North Carolina and capture the National Championship in New Orleans. Now, at long last, a new college basketball season is coming. The 2022-23 campaign begins across the country on Monday, with all 25 seeded teams operating throughout the day and into the night.
5 Baylor turned things around early in the day by crushing Mississippi Valley State 117-53 behind the contributions of 10 players. The event begins en masse in the evening as Kentucky No. 4, No. 16 Villanova and No. 22 Michigan at 6:30 p.m. are the favorites in the home games.
Games run through the night, culminating with No. 8 UCLA hosting Sacramento State at 11:30 p.m. for what should be the first eventful night in the college hoops. While there are no obvious marquee matches, tonight will give us a first look at most of the national contenders.
Given that it’s college basketball – and a sport that thrives in the midst of turmoil – it also wouldn’t be shocking to see some impressive results as teams try to work out the kinks early on.
CBS Sports will be here every step of the way to keep you informed of the latest scores, highlights and action stories throughout the evening. All times are oriental
