PSVR 2 pre-orders will be available online today, November 15. You should expect a tough time booking one despite this high price ($549/£529) and the fact that the release date won’t be until February 22 next year.
So yeah, just like the PS5, the all-new PlayStation VR 2 headset is almost certain to sell out right away. To make things even more difficult, you’ll find that regular game stores may not get a stock PSVR 2 right away. That’s because Sony said the new VR headset will only be sold “tentatively” directly from its website, excluding retail partners from the equation.
Does this mean the first day, week, month… year? This, we imagine, will depend to a large extent on how good this initial stage is. If Sony easily sells the first batch of PSVR 2 for the same pre-orders, it may feel it can go on without retail support. If sales are slow, or pre-orders aren’t as hot as hoped, you might see Sony reassess its relationship with retailers to help turn out the new headset.
Sony has been selling PS5 consoles quite well over the past couple of years, so we’re not too surprised to try this method first. Although, we’ll tell you how to sign up for the PlayStation Store (also known as Sony Direct), but also list a few other retailers that are worth paying attention to just in case they suddenly get stock in these early days. We’ll also tell you about any games, bundles or accessories that appear online in our live roundup below.
US PSVR 2 Pre-Orders: Check These Stores
Head to the PlayStation Store first, especially today on the first official day of PSVR 2 pre-orders, as Sony has confirmed that inventory will be available there before other retailers. Currently, other stores only list vintage VR headsets, Oculus, or random game picks when looking for PSVR 2 pre-orders, but that can all change at any time. We will continue to check them all for signs of life.
UK PSVR 2 Pre-orders: Check out these stores
The PlayStation Store should be the first place you try it. It appears that other retailers are currently only offering last-generation PSVRs, other VR price cuts, or just some random games when looking for the new model at this time. We will continue to update the links below.
