‘Demon Slayer’ announces Hashira’s training arc, here’s the release date estimate

With Demon Slayer’s Swordsmith Village Arc grand finale last night in a double sized ring it was a perfectly happy ending for our heroes, Ufotable right away announce That of course, the next arc was coming up.

This will be the Hashia Geiko-Hen bow, or Hashira’s training bow. There was a short trailer shown with many of the Hashiras that will be appearing in this arc, including some old favourites.

Here’s the official summary of Hashira’s training arc:

Tanjiro goes to see Hashira’s stone, Himejima, whom he intends to prepare for the upcoming battles. Training to become Hashira—a high-ranking member of the Demon Slayer Corps—is intense and demanding. Getting Himejima’s approval seems impossible, but Tanjiro won’t give up! Meanwhile, Demon Lord Muzan continues Find Nezuko and Oboyashiki’s location.”

It was always clear that Tanjirou was on his way to becoming a hashira himself, and given that he had killed a couple of higher rank demons at this point, it seemed like they should give it to him. But this is not how he works, and he must undergo rigorous training to become a Hashira. Sunblock, I guess?

We don’t have a release date for the demon slayer Hashira’s training arc, which is effectively Season 4 of the show. But we can probably estimate it based on previous release dates:

• Demon Slayer season 1 (in English) arrived in October 2019
• Demon Slayer: Mugen Train arrives in October 2021 (two years later)
• Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc arrives December 2021 (2 months later)
• Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc arrives April 2023 (nearly two and a half years later)

It’s really hard to call the Mugen Train its own thing, since it’s kind of a precursor to the Entertainment District Arc. So, really, the gap between seasons is actually 2-2.5 years, maybe a little bit less if we factor in what might be delays due to COVID over that period.

But with that metric, we could see the Hashira training arc in June 2025, or in the fall, possibly November/December 2025. If it goes on for much longer, it could be pushed to early 2026.

After Hashira’s training arc, there is only one final arc, and that is the Final Battle Arc where everything will come to a head. So we’re looking at the year 2027 before Demon Slayer takes his final bow? At least we have some time to enjoy it, then.

Update (6/20): Something a bit interesting if you want to see where Hashira’s training arc is going. It’s… literally a whole bunch of Tanjirou training under the various Hashiras, some of whom we’ve never met before in any meaningful capacity. I suppose this can be somewhat of a spoiler if you really want to go into a situation completely blind.

Endurance training – Voice of Hashira, Tengen Uzui – He’s back! And teach Tanjiro to travel the distance during the vegetation.

Quick movement training – Mist Hashira, Muchiro Tokito – As seen in the Swordsmith Village Arc, no one can move quite like Mist Hashira, and it’s one of the rare times we’ve seen Hashira kill a higher rank demon completely on her own without the help of Tanjiro and company at all.

Flexibility training – Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji – I suppose the jokes write themselves here, but there’s a lot of leotard dancing involved in this one.

Sword skill review – Serpant Hashira, Obanai Iguro – We’ve glimpsed him several times, including quite a few this season, but he’ll work on the sword.

Infinite Bombing Training – Wind Hashira – Sanemi Shinazugawa – There’s got to be a better way to say it. The ability to deal a lot of damage in combat.

Muscle strengthening training – Hashira Stone, Gyomei Himejima – Bears cold water, carries tree trunks, and pushes giant boulders. The strongest man in the world.

Final training – Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka – Not quite sure about the last step here yet.
