GAZA (Reuters) – The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said on Sunday that its fighters clashed with an Israeli force that infiltrated the Gaza Strip and returned to their base after destroying some Israeli military equipment.
The movement said in a statement that the infiltration of what it described as an armored force occurred east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza region, amid expectations of a large-scale ground attack by the Israeli forces gathered around the Strip.
The statement added, “The fighters clashed with the infiltrating force, destroyed two bulldozers and a tank, and forced the force to withdraw before it returned safely to the base.”
There was no immediate Israeli comment regarding the destruction of Israeli equipment or vehicles.
