A powerful group at sea. Satellite photos show Russian equipment

In the Eastern Mediterranean, the Russians assembled a group of six warships (including a submarine). Some machines are capable of carrying Kalibr missiles, whose capabilities we recall.

According to the Defense Romania website, the Russian fleet in the Mediterranean Sea consists of the Ufa submarine, the Admiral Grigorovich frigate, the Mercury corvette, the Gamma tanker, the Oregovo-Zuevo ship and the Giltin research vessel. However, as we read, the operational maritime group of the Russian Federation usually operates up to 15 ships in the Mediterranean. The six planes captured in the satellite photo show that Russia has reduced its naval forces and is maintaining a fleet that cannot counter NATO forces.

However, it is worth noting that despite the reduction in the number of Russian ships in the Mediterranean. Units in water bodies are still a threat – due to the possibility of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles on board (by Admiral Grigorovich, Orekovo-Zhuevo and Ufa ships). Also, two machines are relatively new units in Russian service – Ufa and Mercury do not enter service until 2023.

An important addition to the Kalibr missiles is passive navigation combined with an active radar homing system. Satellite navigation and DSMAC are also available.
