The NBA sets regular-season attendance numbers for the 2023-24 season

The NBA saw record attendance numbers for regular season games this season. The records include all-time highs in total and average attendance, in the percentage of teams at capacity that have sold out their seats and in sellouts.

This is the second year in a row that the NBA has set new records in those categories. It has drawn nearly 304,000 more fans to its arenas this season than last season (22,538,518 total) and an average of 18,324 per game. The league said there were 873 sales across the league, which is 82 more than last season.

71% of games were sold out and 12 teams sold out all of their real home games (Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns). Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz).

The league sent a clarification after publication Monday to make some minor changes to attendance numbers and sale information.

The league also released viewership data for social and digital media consumption.

It found that LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Victor Wimpanyama and Luka Doncic were, by far, the most viewed players on those platforms, and the only ones to surpass a billion total views.

The most-watched play this season across the NBA's digital and social media platforms was a steal by Dončić that led to a pass to Kyrie Irving and an alley-oop dunk by Derrick Jones Jr. The NBA said the highlight has received 250 million views since it occurred on March 21 against the Utah Jazz.
