“The Hunt for Gollum” LOTR already exists

If Warner Bros. announces newly the Lord of the Rings Movie idea Conan’s chase It sounded like fan fiction, because it is.

There is a 2009 fan-made film titled Conan’s chase Which you can watch below. The film, directed by Chris Bouchard, is rather ambitious. Conan’s chase It runs for 39 minutes and received a lot of praise from fans upon its release.

After WB’s announcement, the film was taken offline for several hours and YouTube put up a notice saying Warner Bros. You have filed a copyright claim against the fan film and blocked it. LOTR fans reacted very negatively to the takedown online, and early Friday, the film was restored on YouTube. A source at the studio says the takedown request was made in error.

The short is supposed to tell the same story as the upcoming feature film, which is being developed by producer Peter Jackson and his writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who will be “involved every step of the way.” Andy Serkis is on board to direct and reprise his role as Gollum.

Fan-made Search for Gollum It was set during the opening process Fellowship of the Ring And it fills a quest that was only briefly discussed in Jackson’s 2001 film: Gandalf (briefly played by Patrick O’Connor) meets Aragorn (Adrian Webster) and asks him to search for Gollum to learn more about Frodo’s magic ring. Aragorn goes through a series of adventures and traps, loses Gollum, and is attacked by orcs and Ringwraiths. Gollum is captured by the Elves of Mirkwood, and interrogated by Gandalf.

Warner Bros. Make a surprise LOTR Thursday’s announcement during the first-quarter earnings conference call indicated as much Lord of the rings: Conan’s chase It was the working title.

However, the prospect of a film centered around the tormented creature that Jackson and Serkis memorably brought to life in the original trilogy is receiving some heavy skepticism from fans online. The CG-powered character was, after all, a more or less ideal supporting character – so identifiable and, at turns, entertaining and loathsome. Young Gollum has come a long way, always balanced by the steady performances of his traveling companions, played by Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Sean Astin (Sam).

But given the story suggested by the fan-made short film, the main character of the film may turn out to be Aragorn, with Gandalf and Gollum playing more supporting roles.

It’s not clear if the fan-made film helped inspire the WB project. But there are those who doubt the popularity of the video game Lord of the Rings: Gollumwhich was released last year, was at least part of the inspiration for the project.
