Michael J Fox says it was ‘absolutely amazing’ to play with Coldplay at Glastonbury Festival

Michael J Fox is still in high spirits after his surprise appearance at Coldplay’s electric Glastonbury Festival concert over the weekend.

The beloved actor, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease since 1991, left fans delighted after appearing on stage in front of a 120,000-strong crowd at the annual England Music Festival in the UK.

The “Back to the Future” star joined the band on two of their songs during the encore section, with singer Chris Martin launching into a freestyle in the middle of their 2021 hit “Humankind.”

The actor described the experience as “absolutely amazing,” and thanked the 7-time Grammy Award-winning band for hosting him.

“Glastonbury, much love and thanks to the @coldplay team who took such great care of us,” wrote Fox, 63. On Instagram Sunday. “And a big thank you to Chris, Will, Johnny, Jay and Phil.”

“Oh yeah, in case you were wondering…it was absolutely amazing. Every band has a time and every time has a band. This is @Coldplay’s time,” he added.

Accompanying his post, Fox also shared a series of photos of himself enjoying the festival with his team, as well as another shot of himself in front of a sign that read, “Optimism is a political act.”

Another shot of the carousel showed a sign reading “Special Guest of Coldplay.”

Fox sent his fans crazy on Saturday night after he was brought onto the stage in a wheelchair during Coldplay’s record-breaking set.

“Here’s another legendary Michael,” Martin said of Fox after also introducing festival founder Sir Michael Ives. “The one that totally rocks. With Chuck Berry’s voice and the way he punched Biff: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox.

While leading the large crowd in singing the 2005 hit “Fix You,” Martin knelt next to Foxx, who was playing away.

After the actor left the stage, the band’s frontman revealed that Fox was the reason Coldplay was formed in the first place.

“Special thanks to the main reason we’re in the band, is to watch Back to the Future,” he told the audience.

“Thank you so much to our forever hero, and one of the most amazing people on the face of the Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox. Thank you so much, our hero,” Martin added.

Coldplay have made festival history as their appearance this year marks the fifth time the British rock band has taken part in the five-day music festival – the first time they have done so.

Other major stars at this year’s three-day festival include Dua Lipa and Shania Twain.
