Ahead of the expected launch of One UI 7 this week, Samsung’s new Clock app has appeared with a preview of the company’s updated design language.
Samsung Clock v12.4.00.8 was released on the web this week (available through APKMirror), Seemingly It was rolled out to some users before the first One UI 7 beta was released. However, this new version can be installed immediately on a device running One UI 6, as we were able to do on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The new app update brings a redesigned UI to the different parts of the watch app, but it looks pretty much the same overall. There’s more contrast and the bottom bar now has icons, but there aren’t many changes to the app itself. The biggest changes can be seen through the home screen.
Samsung’s new icon design for One UI 7, as seen in previous leaks, is seen in this app update with the clock icon getting a refreshed look that features a larger clock face and color on the hour hand. This is in line with the more “textured” look Samsung is working on.
Additionally, all the widgets have been revamped. They consist of larger shapes with completely opaque backgrounds. The analog clock widget also gets hour and minute markers, while the world clock widget is now combined into a single two-tone block instead of two separate shapes that can be resized together.
This all lines up with the leaks we’ve seen about One UI 7, with Samsung leaning towards… densely To round UI elements.
With this early update to the app, it seems that Samsung’s approach to using Apple’s “Dynamic Island” feature isn’t just based on the app itself. One UI 7 leaks have shown that the Clock app takes advantage of this new UI, but it doesn’t work on One UI 6, instead showing a redesigned picture-in-picture menu as seen above (to the right of the app icon).
The first beta update for Samsung’s One UI 7 interface, based on Android 15, is expected to arrive as early as tomorrow, July 29, for some devices and regions. But the company has not announced anything yet.
