The incident happened before 12 local time (before 1 pm Polish time). Some of the victims were taken to a children’s hospital, Sky TV reported. Eyewitnesses reportedly heard the screams of women, possibly the mothers of the stricken children.
Southport Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell announced in a post on Platform X that the attacker had been detained and was no longer a threat to the public.
