Most often, the men’s basketball tournament at the Olympics is a crowning achievement for the United States. The U.S. team has won gold in seven of the eight Olympic Games since 1990. The tournament will feature 12 teams. They are divided into three groups, with the four teams in each group playing each other once. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the tournament, along with two teams that gain a spot. From here, the tournament will be a single elimination tournament.
