PUBG publisher Krafton has acquired Tango Gameworks and the Hi-Fi Rush IP from Xbox, meaning the studio won’t be closing its doors any longer.
Krafton shared the news on press release In addition to emphasizing that “as part of this strategic agreement, KRAFTON intends to work with Xbox and ZeniMax to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity at Tango Gameworks, allowing the talented team to continue developing Hi-Fi Rush Intellectual property and exploration of future projects.”
“KRAFTON intends to support the Tango Gameworks team as they continue their commitment to innovation and delivering new and exciting experiences to fans,” the press release continues. “There will be no impact to the current game catalogue.” Evil Within, The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyoand the origin Hi-Fi Rush game.”
In May 2024, Microsoft announced that it was closing a number of Bethesda studios, including Tango Gameworks and Redfall’s Arkane Austin. This was clearly met with shock and anger from developers and fans alike, especially after Microsoft CEO Aaron Greenberg said, X/Twitter In the past, Hi-Fi Rush was a “huge hit.” [Xbox] and [its] Players in all major metrics and expectations.
Hi-Fi Rush has racked up 2 million players in just one month of its release and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. In our Hi-Fi Rush review, we gave it a 9/10 and said it “move[s]to its own rhythm with stunning animation, lovable characters, and stylish rhythmic action that’s far from monotonous.”
