Google’s mockery of Apple during Pixel event included a ridiculous claim

The Edge The magazine highlighted the points where the company mocked Apple, starting with the fact that Google’s AI features are available in 45 languages.

One ridiculous claim

But the most absurd claim Google made was to suggest that it was more protective of your personal data than Apple.

Gemini can handle these types of complex personal queries within Google’s secure cloud without sending any of your personal data to a third-party AI provider you may not know or trust.

Apple has partnered with OpenAI to enable ChatGPT to handle general knowledge queries.

This is of course ridiculous, given that Google makes most of its money by collecting and monetizing personal data.

Apple Intelligence uses on-device processing whenever possible, and its own cloud computing where more processing power is needed. The privacy of this processing can be independently verified, thanks to an “unusual step” in its design.

ChatGPT is only used where access to external knowledge is needed. In these cases, Apple asks for user permission before delivery, and anonymizes these requests before handing them over to OpenAI. Finally, its agreement with the company means that Apple user data cannot be used to train OpenAI models.
