Nintendo has announced that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be reaching end of service in November 28, 2024 4pm BST / 8am PST / 11am EST.

The ad was posted on Nintendo website The company announced via social media that it “would like to express its deep gratitude to everyone who has supported the company since the start of the service.”

New items and events will remain available until the specified date, but those disappointed that the app will soon be ending its online service can breathe a sigh of relief. Nintendo has also announced that a new paid alternative will be available that will allow users to transfer their existing save data, albeit without any online capabilities.

In an FAQ, Nintendo stated that the paid app will retain the same gameplay and controls as the free version, but players will simply be able to access everything through a one-time purchase. No microtransactions will be included, but Nintendo did clarify that some features, such as “market crates, gifts, and visiting other players’ camps,” will not be available.

Players will need to link their Nintendo Account to their existing save data if they haven’t already done so in order to transfer their saves to the new version. This step is applicable for both Android and iOS users.

The closure of the online services marks the “end” of one of Nintendo’s oldest mobile apps, which initially launched in 2017. Providing a paid alternative is a great move from the company, as it means fans can at least keep their progress and continue playing for the foreseeable future. Well done Nintendo.
