Official grid: Who starts where in Zandvoort after Magnussen, Albon and Hamilton demoted

Can pole-sitter Lando Norris make the most of his start this time and overtake Max Verstappen at Turn 1? That’s the key question to be answered after the lights go out at Zandvoort, where McLaren and Red Bull’s rivals once again line up on the front row.

Norris faces team-mate Oscar Piastri who is narrowly behind him, but luck has not been on Verstappen’s side (Sergio Perez will start fifth) who will be overtaken by Mercedes’ George Russell from fourth on the grid.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc leads the pack in sixth, with Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll in fourth, with Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz rounding out the top ten.

It is worth noting that Lewis Hamilton was off the track, qualifying in a disappointing 12th place for Mercedes, then dropping three places due to the Perez block. After the other penalties, he now starts in 14th place.

There was more disappointment at Williams. Alex Albon finished an impressive eighth on Saturday, but was disqualified from the race due to a technical infringement on his car’s floor.

He and team-mate Logan Sargent, who missed qualifying after his heavy crash in the third session of free practice, will start from the back after being given the all-clear by the stewards.

Finally, Kevin Magnussen will start from the pit lane, after Haas decided to change the power unit components in his car after qualifying. The Dane was scheduled to start from 13th.
