The demolition of mosques in Sweden to stop Islamic propaganda was announced on Saturday by right-wing Sweden Democratic Party (SD) leader Jimmy Akesson at a party conference in Västerås, 100 km west of Stockholm.

Akesson accused the largest opposition party, the Social Democrats, including former prime minister Magdalena Anderson, of supporting Islamists. According to Akesson’s announcement, thanks to the Sweden Democrats, by the end of the parliamentary term (in 2026), Sweden will have a strict migration policy in the EU. Earlier, centre-right politicians said the aim was “conditions for migrants to be more generous than in other EU countries”.
