Croatia and the rest of the Balkan region have been facing another heat wave this summer since earlier this week; On Friday, for the first time, the entire country was placed under a red weather warning of dangerous temperatures – recalled the daily “Jutarnji list”.
Temperatures in the country are expected to touch 36 degrees Celsius on the day. A red weather warning remains in effect on Saturday.
On this occasion, the Croatian Red Cross issued warnings that symptoms of heat stroke include headache and dizziness, discomfort, agitation and disorientation, redness, hot and dry skin, rapid pulse, increase in body temperature above 40 degrees or loss of consciousness.
Officials have urged people to avoid going outside during the hottest hours of the day – 10am to 5pm. – Drink water frequently and avoid physical exercise. People are reminded not to leave children and pets outside alone.
“High air temperatures can cause health problems, especially for sensitive groups such as young children, chronically ill people, the elderly, pregnant women and people who work outdoors. In case of dizziness, weakness, extreme thirst or headache, you should immediately seek medical help. For help,” said the Croatian Institute. of Public Health emphasized.
