People relaxing on a popular beach in Andalusia were struck with panic and horror when they spotted a shark fin in shallow water. This is the fifth such incident in the past month, raising concerns about the safety of bathing on Spain’s beaches.
A group of tourists were relaxing on Torremolinos beach in Malaga when at one point a monstrous shark swam into the shallow waters nearby, which later turned out to be a blue shark. People who were bathing in the sea escaped from danger and ran to a safe place.
Emily McEwan, who was at the beach with her family, shared a video of the horrific incident.
“It was kind of surprising because we’ve all seen movies like Jaws, but you’d never expect to be in the ocean when you see this paddle,” Emily said.
With the appearance of the shark, crowds began to gather on the beach. Emily also noticed a caudal fin nearby. Rescue teams arrived and patrolled the area.
The shark swam in the waters around the beach for about half an hour before rescuers successfully guided it to the open sea.
When I saw this shark, Emily said, “This can’t be real, this can’t happen. We’re only in Spain, these are very shallow waters. It’s impossible.”
The tourist noted that there was also a bar on the beach, where the staff came down and said: “Don’t worry, it’s a turtle, don’t panic.”
“But a shark’s fin doesn’t really look like a turtle’s,” Beachside recalled.
This is the fifth such incident on the Spanish coast in the past month. Experts don’t know what attracts sharks to shore. However, they want to reassure tourists that the area has not become a “dangerous place” and that the incidents may be isolated incidents. Their last frequency is purely coincidental.
Earlier, the shark was spotted off Arusa Island near Pontevedra province. Then the vacationing tourists saw a blue shark near the beach. It does not appear to be an adult. He was swimming in clear water near a fishing boat, which made it easy to spot him quickly.
A similar species of shark was spotted on the Costa Blanca in Acumarina in June. Upon spotting the predator, rescuers immediately called everyone out of the water. The day after the incident, a dead shark was found on the rocks near the beach.
On the same day, in Mallorca near Puerto Pollensa, a blue shark was also spotted. Despite the fact that this species rarely attacks humans, there have been cases of bites, four of which ended tragically.
