New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out of playing for the remainder of the NFL season.

The 39-year-old was sacked by Buffalo Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd and suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles tendon in Monday Night Football – much to the disappointment of NFL fans.
“Surgery went great yesterday. Thank you for all the love, prayers and support,” Rodgers shared via Instagram Story on Thursday.

This will come as positive news for Jets fans who are hoping Rodgers can recover quickly before next year’s NFL season.

Rodgers was sacked by Leonard Floyd and suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles tendon during Monday Night Football.
After suffering the devastating hit, Rodgers’ mentality has been praised by Jets franchise insiders who believe he will be back next year.
When asked if Rodgers would return to football, Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was firm.
“Oh, yeah,” Hackett told reporters. “Whenever Aaron decides something, good luck to anyone who wants to change their mind.”
Jets coach Robert Saleh echoed those sentiments.
“I would be shocked if this is how he goes out,” Saleh said during a media interview on Wednesday. “He’s working through a lot of things he needs to deal with, and this will be the last thing I talk to him about.”
It’s not just New York’s coaching staff that has high hopes for Rodgers’ recovery; The four-time MVP was also praised by his Jets teammates.
“I know he’s going to have surgery here soon and he’s going to attack rehab and I think he’ll probably recover faster than anyone who’s ever seen someone come back from an Achilles tendon,” Jets center Connor McGovern added on Wednesday.

The Jets coaching staff believes Rodgers will return before next season.
The onus will now be placed on 24-year-old Zach Wilson to carry the quarterback load for the New York Jets.
Wilson has been criticized in the past for poor performances while wearing a Jets jersey, but he says he is “definitely” a better player for being around Rodgers.
“I feel like I was trying to imitate everything he did, from his footwork to the coaching tips he gave us,” Wilson said. “He did a fantastic job, more than we could ask for as midfielders.”
The Jets face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in Texas with a chance to start their season with a 2-0 record.
