TMZ Sports spoke with Adam Pearce about the passing of the great Jay Briscoe. Peace said the following:
“Last night I got the news like everyone in wrestling and I was out of breath. You know, that’s a contemporary of a lot of people we all loved. It’s a cliché to say, but I mean, I can’t think of anyone who’s faced Jay Briscoe that hasn’t told you the same thing.” He was an amazing performer. As you listen to the awards and the championships, I mean, it was over and over again. He and his brother Mark are, for my money, one of the greatest tag teams in the history of our business and that’s no exaggeration. I think so. I’ve shared many rings with them, many of them in the locker room. I have dealt with them in every aspect of our industry. Most of all, he was my friend, and I am distraught that this happened and God my heart goes out to his family.”
“The thing I’ve always loved so much is his love for his family. He was such an amazing father, and such an amazing husband. I know his mom and dad and his wife and I’m just getting over myself without having any idea what to say to anyone. How comforting a family I knew, oh my gosh, I met Jay and Mark, he was It must have been 2005, almost 20 years ago, and you just don’t have the words, man. You don’t have the words, but I want the world to know, other than what wrestler he was, a Ring of Honor Hall of Famer He was, and always will be, Jay Briscoe was an amazing father and family man. I know he appreciated that more than any wrestling accolade.”
