They are looking for drones
A third threat level, “Charlie”, was reported to the NATO base in North Rhine-Westphalia.
“A spokesman for the air base explained (…) that people should report sightings of drones over the base directly to the commander. However, the spokesman did not say whether this was related to the alert from the Secret Services. Several signs that the Americans were on alert against a possible drone attack”
AWACS supervises the space
According to NATO, reconnaissance flights scheduled for Friday will go ahead as planned. Currently, there are about 300 people on the site. Police are increasing patrols outside the site. From Thursday evening Civilian personnel not required for flight operations will not be allowed to enter the base.
14 AWACS reconnaissance aircraft are stationed in the Keelenkirchen Deveren district. Their mission, among others, is to monitor the airspace in order to detect potential threats early and warn NATO early.
