“We’re excited to introduce Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad, allowing creators to unleash their creativity in new ways and in more places,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With a powerful suite of intuitive tools designed for portability and performance and a touch-first interface for the iPad, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro deliver the ultimate mobile studio.”
Final Cut Pro for the iPad
Final Cut Pro for iPad introduces an all-new touch interface and easy-to-use tools—opening the door to new workflows for video creators. The new steering wheel makes editing easier than ever and enables users to interact with content in entirely new ways. They can navigate the magnetic timeline, move clips, and make quick frame-accurate adjustments with just a tap of a finger, and with the immediacy and power of multi-touch gestures, push their creativity to new heights.
With Live Drawing, users can draw and write directly over video content with their Apple Pencil. On iPad Pro with M2, Apple Pencil swipe unlocks users’ ability to quickly browse and preview shots without touching the screen.1 They can also speed up their workflow by adding a Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio to take advantage of key commands.2 Content creators can render and edit stunning HDR video—taking advantage of the 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display on iPad Pro—and precisely apply color grading using Reference Mode.
Professional camera mode and multi-cam video editing
Pro camera mode gives greater control over the creation process on iPad. Video creators can shoot high-quality video in portrait or landscape orientation, monitor audio and available recording time, and manually control settings such as focus, exposure, and white balance. Content creators can capture, edit, and publish from a single device while out in the field, and on the iPad Pro with M2, users can even sign up for ProRes.3 With multicam video editing, clips can be automatically synced and edited together, and users can even switch angles in a multicam clip with just the touch of a finger.
Features fast cutting with machine learning
Final Cut Pro for iPad harnesses the power of Apple silicon and machine learning to speed up time-consuming editing tasks. With Scene Removal Mask, content creators can quickly remove or replace background behind a subject in a clip without using a green screen. Auto crop Adjusts footage to vertical, square, and other aspect ratios, and by using sound isolation, background noise can be easily removed from audio captured in the field.
Professional graphics, effects and sound
Video creators can choose from a huge library of professional graphics, effects, and audio to enhance their storytelling. This includes stunning HDR backgrounds, customizable animation styles, and professional soundtracks that automatically adapt to video length.
import and export
Editors can import supported media from files or images and save them directly within a Final Cut Pro project. Final Cut Pro for iPad also supports the ability to import projects created in iMovie for iOS,4 iPad and iPad users can export their Final Cut Pro projects to Mac.5
Logic Pro for the iPad
Logic Pro for iPad combines the power of Logic Pro with the portability of an iPad to unlock a professional all-in-one music creation application. With Multi-Touch gestures, music creators can operate software instruments and interact naturally with controls, as well as navigate complex projects with pinch-to-zoom and swipe. Plug-in Tiles puts the most useful controls at creators’ fingertips, making it easy to quickly shape sounds. With the iPad’s built-in microphones, users can capture recordings of vocals or instrumentals, and with five studio-quality microphones on the iPad Pro, users can turn almost any space into a recording studio. Creators can also make precise edits and draw detailed path automations with Apple Pencil, and connect the Smart Keyboard Folio or Magic Keyboard to take advantage of key commands that speed up production.
The all-new voice browser
The all-new Audio Browser uses dynamic filtering to help music creators discover the perfect sound whenever inspiration strikes. The Audio Browser displays all available instrument patches, audio patches, plug-in presets, samples, and loops in one place, and users can click to test any audio before loading it into a project to save time and stay in the creative flow.
Additional tools and professional effects
Creators can shape the sonic qualities of their music with Logic Pro’s more than 100 powerful tools and effects plug-ins. Effects such as vintage EQs, compressors, and reverbs allow users to tweak and fine-tune their tracks. With Multi-Touch, content creators can play instruments using a variety of playing surfaces. Logic Pro on iPad comes with a huge collection of powerful photorealistic and synthesizer tools including Sample Alchemy – a new sample manipulation tool that can transform any audio sample with the swipe of a finger.
Beat making and production tools
Producers can slice and flip samples, program beats and bass lines, and make custom drum kits with a range of beat making and production tools. Beat Breaker, a new time and pitch shift plug-in, lets music creators swipe and tweak to radically reshape and tweak sounds. Quick Sampler can slice and transform audio samples into entirely new playback instruments, and Step Sequencer lets users program drum patterns, bass lines, and melodies, and even automate plug-ins with just a few clicks. Drum Machine Designer enables the creation of custom drum kits by applying unique samples and plug-ins to any drum pad. With Live Loops, users can quickly get inspired and build arrangements by mixing and matching music loops.
Pro Mixer
A full-featured mixer—complete with channel strips, equalizers, extensive controls, plug-ins, sends, and subtle automation—gives users everything they need to create a fully professional mix on the iPad. Multi-Touch lets creators intuitively mix and move multiple faders at once, and the Mixer Scale Bridge lets them quickly navigate an overview of track levels, all from the iPad.
