Further regulations implementing the political agenda of “fighting the climate” have come into force in the capital of Great Britain. Londoners forced to get rid of 9-year-old cars The original authorities wanted to order the removal of the cars, but in the end it was decided that the British could give them to the Ukrainians for free.

London. Officials punish scrap cars

The regulations came into effect from March 15. In particular, this concerns diesel cars manufactured before 2015 and petrol cars of models before 2006. Industry media indicate that these are several dozen or so cars that cost close to PLN 100,000.

Such a serious attack by the authorities on private property drew a strong reaction from some residents. He has voiced criticism among others: former prime minister Boris Johnson. So far, however, there has been no effective political or judicial intervention that can curb this illegality.

If the regulations are not withdrawn, owners of the 9-year-old cars will have to dispose of them through compulsory scrapping, for which city officials will pay a £2,000 “compensation”.

An acceptable “offer” agreed to by the Pakistani mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, is the possibility of delivering his car to Ukraine. City officials will then pay £2,000 of taxpayers' money. The amendment to the relevant regulations came at the request of Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.

Another option left to Londoners by the authorities is to pay the city council a daily rate of £12.50, or more than £4,500 a year. According to estimates by the end of 2023, 700,000 cars in London do not meet environmental standards.
