Baldur’s Gate 3 developers are holding a meeting to discuss the “launch” process, and the studio’s CEO says “morale is high.”
In a tweet, Larian Studios CEO Swen Fink revealed that a “senior developer summit” is about to begin today. The image attached to the tweet below is the same one where Baldur’s Gate 3’s senior developers met two years ago to discuss “how to finish” the massive RPG, but this time, the leaders are meeting to discuss Larian’s new game.
Larian Summit is about to start – 2 years ago we came to this very place to discuss how to end BG3. This time to discuss takeoff. Morale is high and spirits are good, expect flooding any minute now. pic.twitter.com/PQCZWa6POaJuly 8, 2024
This is the “takeoff” part of Vincke’s tweet above, which also adds that “morale is high” and “spirit is good,” which is clearly what you want to hear from any developer, hundreds of people strong, looking to start full production on their next game.
When we last heard about what’s next for Larian, the developer had two new projects in development, both of which were original concepts rather than continuations of existing series like Baldur’s Gate 3. Perhaps Larian is meeting to discuss both new games rather than one or the other.
It’s also good to hear that “morale is good” at Larian. It’s been more than half a year since Larian decided to cancel the Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC due to low staff morale in January. Vincke revealed that when he announced the cancellation of the DLC, he saw “a lot of happy faces,” partly because no one really wanted to participate in the first place.
As for Baldur’s Gate 3, we still have full mod support coming in September, which Vincke previously said would be the moment Larian passes the reins to players.
