The almost two-year-old girl may have been thrown from the third-floor apartment in the apartment complex in a cat basket, Die Welt reported. The child is seriously injured.
On Monday afternoon, in front of an apartment building in Berlin’s Altglienicke district in the Treptow-Köpenick administrative district, a passerby heard a child crying quietly and found the girl in a plastic container for transporting cats, Die Welt reported.
As the daily writes in its online edition, the girl “may have been thrown from a height of at least 10 meters from the third-floor apartment”.
Alert services came to the site. The child was taken to the hospital. He is 21 months old, police said. A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, quoted by Die Welt, said the child suffered “serious injuries” as a result of the fall. Fortunately, his life is not in danger at this time.
Police are investigating the case of attempted murder. The girl’s mother was arrested. She was questioned on Tuesday and the court was expected to decide on her arrest later that day.
Another child was also in the residence at the time of the arrest. There were no signs of injury. He was sent to a care center. There were no adults in the apartment except mom. No drugs found – Die Welt writes about police findings.
