Capcom's focus on its DLC approach in Street Fighter 6 has thus far remained somewhat irritating to many in the playerbase, and while their practice is still ongoing, there are some positives to consider.
The new Spy x Family collaboration has actually made a pretty significant change with its DLC over the previous crossovers and events we've seen, which might have been overlooked at first glance.
Yes, Capcom primarily released a few avatar costumes for this trailer rather than giving Chun-Li a Yor crossover costume or anything else, but that's what we're here to talk about now.
Think back to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-op from last August. Even if they were just incarnations of the four brothers, many fans were still very excited until they saw the price.
Each Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costume was fully priced at 750 Fighter Coins, which equates to about $15 apiece, but what made matters worse was the fact that you had to spend more money on a pack of coins just to afford the cost of one of them in the game.
This expensive trend continues even after the crossovers to the Winter Glint and Noble outfits, which cost upwards of 1200 FC or $23 USD to obtain.
So what makes the Spy x Family DLC better?
Simply put, this is because Yor and Loid's costumes didn't cost Fighter Tokens, but rather SF6's other main currency, Drive Tickets.
Unlike Fighter Coins, players can easily obtain Drive Tickets for completing game missions, and Capcom also offers 1,000 tickets on average to celebrate a character's birthday.
Just in the last few weeks, they've been giving away 2,000 free tickets just to log into the game for Juri and Cammy's birthdays.
And since both Spy x Family costumes are only 500 dinars each, they're basically free for anyone who plays regularly while they still have more tickets left.
500 driving tickets is also quite small considering the other token items in the Hub Goods Shop range between 2,000 and 8,000 driving tickets each.
It's almost reminiscent of the days of Street Fighter 5 where they were offering cross-dressing for completing four weekly missions spread out over a limited amount of time even if that's still less exciting overall.

Capcom has never apologized or really addressed their wild pricing structure for cosmetic DLC in SF6, and while they may not apologize for this either, it feels like a potential step in the right direction to get some great goodies without draining your actual wallet.
Although the contents of Spy x Family Collab may still be disappointing to many overall, we need to give them some credit for offering these things for free.
Hopefully this indicates that Capcom is offering players more interesting things to use Drive Tickets on and more importantly rewarding people who keep coming back to the game as consistently as they did in SF5.
On top of the costumes, players can get 11 stickers, 3 frames, and 4 titles to keep for free for logging into the game until January 31st.
All of this also means that you'll be seeing a bunch of excited guys running around the Battle Hub in Yor gear for a while.
