Chelsea agreed terms with Mauricio Pochettino to become their new coach.
Details of the transaction are expected to be finalized in the coming days. Pochettino will start his new role in the summer, with Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, Tony Jimenez and his son Sebastiano Pochettino joining him at Stamford Bridge as his back-up squad. The club’s coaches will also join its staff.
Pochettino will team up with Chelsea’s sporting directors and interim coach Frank Lampard before the end of the season.
The Argentine has been out of football since leaving his role with Paris Saint-Germain in July last year.
Chelsea have been searching for a new permanent manager since Graham Potter was sacked last month, with former boss Lampard appointed in caretaker charge for the remainder of the season.
Pochettino rose to prominence at Espanyol and Southampton before a hugely successful spell with Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham.
He helped Spurs finish in the top four in four consecutive seasons as well as lead them to their first Champions League final in 2019.
He was sacked the following season before taking over as head coach of Paris Saint-Germain in January 2021.
They won the French Cup in May 2021 before winning the Ligue 1 title the following season.
Chelsea had a very difficult season with both Potter and Thomas Tuchel paying for their jobs.
Lampard was placed on temporary assignment in April and, after a run of six consecutive defeats, picked up his first win with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth in May.
They drew Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
