The Cowboys sent a new offer to receiver C.D. Lamb on Friday, executive vice president Stephen Jones said Saturday. The team also recently sent a new offer to Dak Prescott’s agent.
Talks are progressing for both players, and the Cowboys are optimistic they can be signed by the start of the regular season.
“At the moment, I can describe both conversations as positive,” Jones said.We are having good conversations. Back and forth with everyone you want [France] And Tori [Dandy]”I like where we stand.”
Prescott’s agent, France, is in talks with the Cowboys about a third contract for the quarterback. It took two years for Prescott to get his second deal, a four-year, $160 million deal that expires at the end of this season.
Prescott has all the leverage, with no-trade and no-tag clauses, so he controls whether he becomes a free agent in March.
“We’re talking. Make no mistake about it. We’re talking,” club owner Jerry Jones said Saturday.
Lamb, whose agent is Dandy, will not participate in training camp because he is looking to increase his $17.9 million salary, which is set to be paid in Year 5. Stephen Jones said Lamb is not necessarily looking to surpass the $35 million average annual salary that tops Justin Jefferson, but Lamb wants to be in the same neighborhood.
