Dak Prescott looked almost completely into the first half of his second start since returning from a broken thumb, completing 16 of 20 passes for 180 yards, and two touchdowns and interceptions. Prescott also had a dash score from seven yards on possession of the opening game. All of his production plus Tony Pollard’s contributions in the absence of Ezekiel Elliott with a knee injury saw the Cowboys lead the Bears 28-17 in half.
The Cowboys scored touchdowns in their first four driving rounds for the first time since Week 16 of the 2014 season. Pollard, the Cowboys’ fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft from Memphis, excelled in his fourth career start of the week, with a total of 67 scrimmage yards on Eight touches including a quick 18-yard touchdown put Dallas over the top 21-7 early in the second quarter.
Betting the Bears on their first possession, Fields took advantage of his speed to get Chicago on the board. He ran four times for 32 yards, including a three-yard touchdown in a quarterback tie, to get the Bears on the scoreboard on their subsequent possession. Fields got a break shortly before the break, after blocking his way to a Cowboys Travon Diggs corner kick that was erased thanks to a ruthless penalty on the Dallas defense end of Chauncey-Goleston. The next play was a 17-yard pass touchdown to wide receiver N’Keal Harry, the first result selected in the first round of the New England Patriots with the Bears.
Fields finished the game with a 46-yard pass and touchdown plus a 42-yard dash and other points.
