As part of its strategy presentation, CD Projekt announced that it has several new games in development. Although details are scant, the company has announced that a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 for 2020 is in development under the codename “Project Orion” and will demonstrate the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe upon its release.
In addition, there are a number of new games set in the world of The Witcher that are also in various stages of development. All of these are also developed under various code names, and they include Project Sirius, Project Polaris, and Project Canis Majoris. In addition to the two most popular franchises, CD Projekt is also working on Project Hadar, a new standalone IP address.
CD Projekt said in its briefing that it has launched a new “AAA Parallel Development” strategy this year and that it also plans to promote a healthy and sustainable work environment. As its franchises expand, the company plans to be more transparent, enhance its development capabilities, and offer more multiplayer experiences to its traditional single-player games.
Sirius Project
For Project Sirius, this Witcher game is touted as an innovative game from the series aimed at both seasoned fans and people new to the franchise. Currently in pre-production, it is being developed by Flame in Flood developer The Molasses Flood and has over 60 people involved in creating it.
Polaris Project
Project Polaris is described as an open-world RPG based on the legacy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and employs over 150 people on CD Projekt Red. This game will be the start of a new Witcher trilogy that aims to be delivered within 6 years after the release of Polaris.
Canis Majoris . Project
Set in the universe of The Witcher, this game will be developed by a third party studio that will be led by former Witcher veterans.
Orion Project
The working title of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, this new game set in the universe created by Mike Pondsmith will arrive after the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion and will be further developed by CD Projekt Red.
attended project
The latest IP from CD Projekt, Project Hadar has been in an “IP incubation” since 2021 and is currently in the concept stage. This game is described as distinct from Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher and is 100% in-house developed.
In addition to gaming projects, CD Projekt also plans to expand into television and movies. Cyberpunk Edgerunners has been a critical blow to the company’s Transmedia strategy and plans to produce more content based on its properties through third-party partners. A new studio is also being set up in the US, and it will be known as CD Projekt Red North America.
