More than a year after announcing his exit from Showtime’s financial drama, Damian Lewis is back on the set Billions Confirmed.
Showtime has revealed that the Emmy winner will reprise his role as Bobby “X” Axelrod in the upcoming seventh season. He will appear in six of the 12 episodes. Season 7 is set to air later this year. In addition, Toney Goins, who plays Philip on the series, has been promoted to a series regular.
In season seven, “alliances are turned upside down. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become guarded friends. Bobby Axelrod returns, as stakes grow from Wall Street to the world,” according to the network’s official synopsis.
Louis was spotted in the group Last November, scenes outside the Tower of London were filmed alongside cast members Maggie Siff and David Costabile. Pictures were the first fan tip that Billions The vet might actually come back.
In the Season 5 finale, Bobby goes to Switzerland to escape the legal reach of Paul Giamatti’s state attorney, Chuck Rhodes. “So that’s what we’re losing,” Axelrod told his billionaire rival Mike Prince (played by Corey Stoll), who now owns all of his companies.
At the time of his exit, Lewis said his five-season run as Ax was “easily the most time I’ve had playing one character,” and as such, each Ax-vs-Chuck permutation was explored. “It’s hard to keep mining creative” homeland said the young man. “We know who he is.”
The English actor continued: “Maybe there is a chance for me to come back. But for now, in general, the ax has been beaten.”
