BOULDER, Colo. — Coach Deion Sanders hates late kickoff times and doesn’t particularly like the cold weather.
But here he is on Friday the 13th, leading the Colorado Football Team into a kickoff at 10pm ET on ESPN, this time amid cold temperatures against Stanford (1-4).
It will be a different test for the Buffaloes (4-2), whose first five games have come against nationally ranked opponents or a longtime “personal” rival.
Stanford isn’t, but the hype will still be there for Coach Prime and the Buffs at Folsom Field. They will play to their seventh consecutive sold-out crowd and another large audience on national television.
Will the team start slow again, as they did in their previous three games, when they were outscored 34-7 in the first quarter? Can they protect star quarterback Shedor Sanders? Colorado ranks second nationally in most quarterback sacks allowed with 31.

BOULDER, Colo. — Stanford finally broke its scoring drought against Colorado on its seventh possession of the game, when it went 43 yards in seven plays for a touchdown with 9:01 remaining in the third quarter. Bryce Farrell capped off a Stanford drive with a 2-yard touchdown run left, cutting Colorado’s lead to 29-6.
Stanford’s two-point conversation attempt was then thwarted, as Travis Hunter made the final putt to make sure the ball stayed out of the end zone.

BOULDER, Colo. — Colorado started the game with four touchdowns on four possessions, but its offense finally came up empty at the end of the first half. Deion Sanders opted to attempt a 46-yard field goal, which was missed when the kick from Alejandro Mata failed.
But the Buffaloes entered halftime with a 29-0 lead against Stanford after getting three touchdowns from Xavier Weaver and one from Travis Hunter.
The Buffs have outrebounded Stanford 324-115 and are averaging 9.5 yards per game. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders completed 14 of 18 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions.

BOULDER, Colo. — Colorado scored four goals on four possessions against Stanford to start a cold, late game at Folsom Field. Receiver Xavier Weaver scored three of the touchdowns, the last on a reverse handoff to the left sideline, where he ran into the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown with 2:57 remaining in the first half.
Colorado leads 29-0. Buffalo has 298 total yards, compared to 109 for Stanford.

BOULDER, Colo. — Colorado quarterback Shedor Sanders finds receiver Xavier Weaver wide open on the right side of the field For a 39-yard touchdown passhelping the Buffaloes take a 22-0 lead against Stanford with 8:42 left in the first half.
Colorado faked an extra point kick, kicking the ball to tight end Caleb Fauria for the two-point conversion.
Sanders is 11-for-14 passing for 159 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Weaver. The Buffaloes have scored on all three possessions so far after being outscored 34-7 in the first quarters of their previous three games.

Boulder has been a party ever since Deion Sanders took office in Colorado. On Friday night, CU was swinging a lot, it seemed.
The referees stopped play at the start of the second quarter to make an announcement:
“Will the public address announcer stop play while Stanford is in formation ready to catch the ball. Any play of music or sound effects will result in unsportsmanlike conduct against Colorado,” The chief reference said.
Fans greeted the announcement with heartfelt boos.
“When the offense gets close to the line, and they start calling their signals, all the public address announcements and music have to stop at that time,” ESPN’s Matt Austin, point guard, explained.
BOULDER, Colo. – Colorado State is off to a strong start and so is Travis Hunter. He scored a 24-yard touchdown on a nice catch and run — highlighted by an ankle-breaking turnover move — with 3:36 remaining in the first quarter. The TD and extra point put the Buffaloes up 14-0 with their second touchdown on their two possessions against Stanford.
Hunter started on offense and defense after missing the last three games with a liver injury but already had two catches for 36 yards and a touchdown, along with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty imposed on the ensuing kickoff.

BOULDER, Colo. — Colorado struck first against Stanford, going on a 7-0 run after going 77 yards in eight plays, capped by a 9-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Shedor Sanders to receiver Xavier Weaver. The drive included a 12-yard catch by Travis Hunter on third-and-11, followed by a 38-yard run by Sanders to bring the Buffaloes to the Stanford 28-yard line.

BOULDER, Colo. — Star receiver Travis Hunter is scheduled to return to Colorado on Friday night after missing the last three games with a ruptured liver. He drew cheers when he took the field in shorts and a tank top, then pulled down some one-handed picks in the end zone during pregame warmups.
Deion Sanders said on his Coaches Weekly podcast this week that Hunter would not have a playing limit if he gets the green light to play. This is not how Hunter acts. He’s an “all-around” or nothing guy, meaning he could play more than 120 games combined for Colorado on offense and defense against Stanford, as he did in his first two games of the season against TCU and Nebraska.
Hunter, a sophomore, suffered the injury Sept. 16 in a double overtime win over Colorado State, when he was crushed by a late hit by Colorado State defender Henry Blackburn in the first quarter.
Colorado is 3-0 in games Hunter starts and 1-2 in games he misses.

BOULDER, Colo. — The atmosphere of Friday night’s game in Boulder can get quite rowdy even though Stanford is neither a heavyweight nor a formidable foe. There are several reasons for this:
1. It’s family weekend at UCLA, which means parents crowd the campus library on Thursday and Friday to stock up on Buffs gear. After watching “Coach Prime” and the school’s soccer team make a national splash last month, many of them are eager to get in on the party with their CU student children. That’s what this game was for One of the first two companies announced for sale in Colorado this season, along with the Nebraska game on Sept. 9. This sale was announced on July 20.
2. It’s a sold-out game for the night on ESPN. Colorado has played in front of large crowds in all of its games this season. Colorado football coach Deion Sanders blasted the 8 p.m. CT kickoff set by ESPN for Friday night’s game against Stanford at Folsom Field, saying “thank God” his team will soon leave the Pac-12 Conference and several subsequent game times. In the west.
Sanders said the 8pm kickoff was “the stupidest thing ever” and “the stupidest thing ever invented in life.”
“Who wants to stay up until 8 a.m. playing a tough game?” Asked.

Even though it’s a home game in Boulder, his team is staying at a hotel before the game, as other teams do before home games.
“What are you supposed to do at the hotel?” Asked. “What are you supposed to do all day?”
“I watch football,” presenter Mark Johnson said.
“Who’s playing on Friday?” Sanders replied.
Sanders then indicated that his team would leave the Pac-12 after this season.
“Thank God we will not be at this conference,” he said.
By leaving the Pac-12 to join the Big 12 next year, Colorado will play more games against conference rivals in the Central and Eastern time zones, with fewer games expected at 10 p.m. ET.

Colorado star kicker Travis Hunter has been medically cleared to play and has a “tremendous chance” to return to action Friday night against Stanford, Deion Sanders said Tuesday.
Whether he plays or not will depend on “how he looks, how he performs in practice, how his wind is,” Sanders said. “He has to be in good shape. I don’t want him to be a burden. I want him to always be a great athlete.”
This likely means he will play as Hunter has been practically begging to get back on the field since his injury.

Colorado was 3-0 in games started by Hunter and is now 1-2 in games without him. Since his injury, the Buffaloes struggled the rest of the game against Colorado State before winning in double overtime, losing to Oregon 42-6, losing to Southern California 48-41, then narrowly winning last weekend at Arizona State, 27-24.
