An online investigator who uncovered a group chat later presented as evidence at Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski slope trial said it took “probably two minutes” to sneak through the transcripts — though it confused the courtroom attorney.
Michael Fletcher – CourtTV model who cracked code and sent Meetup group messages to Paltrow’s defense team – Julie Grant from the network Breaking into a group chat has never been so complicated.
“It’s comical how easy it was,” said a stunned Fletcher.
“They kept repeating that it was the most important piece of evidence, and they couldn’t figure it out. They had no idea how to open the link.”
An eagle-eyed viewer revealed messages in a link that supposedly contained GoPro footage of a 2016 ski slope collision between Paltrow and Terry Sanderson, a 76-year-old retired ophthalmologist.
The messages showed that Craig Ramone – the skier who claims to be the only eyewitness to the accident – knew that the “Shakespeare in Love” actress was the other party in the accident.
Sanderson, who claims the accident left him with permanent brain damage, has insisted that neither he nor his primary eyewitness knew Paltrow was the skater who hit him.
But a chat between members of the Sanderson ski group says otherwise.
“You can’t make this up,” Ramon wrote in the chat.
“Last Saturday, her son broke his arm while skating in Park City. Gwyneth was staying at Montague. I took her plane from Millionaire Airport. What makes me mad is that Gwyneth took Terry out and then took off.”
Chat explained that Ramon believed Paltrow hit Sanderson long before Sanderson filed his lawsuit. It appears that Sanderson and his associates knew that the actress was the woman involved in the accident.
During the court televised interview, Fletcher appeared amazed that the lawyers had cheated so badly from the login screen that the link led to.
“Like, I can’t believe they haven’t already done this. It’s almost a joke.”
“All I did was create a login for the site. If a website requires a login, you can’t access anything on it without logging in…then the link works. It’s easy.”
Grant was troubled by the revelation.
“So it wasn’t like the link was bad, wrong or something?” she asked.
“No,” Fletcher replies, who works as a technical detective but says he has no particularly special skills. “There is nothing wrong with the link…maybe [I had] Just a little common sense.”
Sanderson is suing Paltrow for more than $300,000, claiming she skated recklessly that day at a chic Utah ski resort.
