Pugh plays Alice, a housewife in an experimental fictional society who is married to Jack, played by Styles. Alice’s life is revealed after she learns the disturbing truth behind her adorable husband’s luscious companionship.
Besides Pugh and Styles, the star-studded cast includes Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, Kiki Laine, Sydney Chandler, and Nick Kroll. Wilde will also play a supporting role in addition to directing the film. Although Pugh will be the main character in the film, the film features the distinction of Styles’ first major acting role outside of “One Direction”-related content. Wilde claims to be inspired by the psycho-sexual thrillers “Deadly Attraction” and the film’s “Indecent Suggestion”. The film is Wilde’s second directorial project after her critically acclaimed teen comedy “Booksmart,” starring Kaitlyn Dever and Penny Feldstein, which was released in 2019. Wilde also cited the films “Inception,” “The Matrix,” and “The Truman Show” as sources. for inspiration While speaking at CinemaCon.
