Electric Zoo cancels the first day of the 2023 edition

NYC EDM Festival’s Electric Zoo has canceled the first day of its 2023 edition. The notice came hours before gates opened at 3pm today (9/1), and organizers say the cancellation was because they couldn’t finish construction of the main stage in time due to… “Supply chain disruption.” Here is their complete message:

Dear Electric Zoo Family,

We deeply regret to inform you with a broken heart that despite our tireless efforts and around the clock commitment, we have made the painful decision to cancel Day 1 of Electric Zoo.

This year has presented unparalleled challenges for everyone. Global supply chain disruptions have impacted industries across the globe, and unfortunately, our beloved festival has not been immune. These unexpected delays prevented us from completing construction of the main phase in time for day one.

We know how important this day is to all of you, and seeing your excitement made it even more special for us. Sharing this difficult news is frankly heartbreaking. We feel the weight of disappointment and frustration, and are very sorry to let our Electric Zoo family down.

We will provide a full refund for your Friday ticket. For those with multi-day tickets, you will receive a credit for one day. Likewise, all Friday ferry and bus ticket holders will receive a full refund, and those with multi-day transport tickets will receive a refund equivalent to one day’s amount. We will ensure that this process is as smooth and quick as possible.

On a brighter note, Saturday and Sunday are set to be truly magical. Starting at 1pm on both days, we look forward to uniting with you all to celebrate life, music and dance during sunset with the iconic backdrop of the New York skyline, right in the heart of New York City. Let us come together, stronger than before, to create moments that will remain etched in our memories forever.

While words cannot fully express the depth of our regret regarding Day 1, please know that this decision was not made lightly. Your safety and experience are always of the utmost importance, and we did not want to compromise the quality and integrity of the event you truly deserve.

We ask for your forgiveness and understanding during this difficult time. We are deeply sorry for all the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause. Your unwavering support has always been the backbone of Electric Zoo, and we pledge to make the remaining days of the festival an unforgettable experience.
