A third child has died after being attacked while playing at a community center in Southport. The attacker was arrested. He is a 17 year old boy. British Prime Minister Charles III and Queen Camilla wrote in separate statements that they were “deeply shocked” by the crime. Prince William and Duchess Kate said in their statement that they could not imagine the tragedy as parents.

The tragic attack took place on Monday in the exceptionally peaceful town of Southport. An eyewitness said bloodied children ran out of the community center where dance and yoga classes for children aged six to 11 were being held.

Initially, police said they were called to a property on Hart Street around midday in relation to a knife attack. As she said at the time, she detained the man and secured the knife. A police report said several casualties had been reported, but gave no further details.

Just before 7pm local time (8pm in Poland), the authorities called a press conference. Shocking information was released there.

Thirteen people, including 11 children, were injured in a knife attack by a 17-year-old boy from Bank Town, near Southport. On Monday, two children were reported dead, while nine children and two adults remained in hospitals.

On Tuesday, police announced the death of a third child, a 9-year-old girl, writes the BBC. The fight for the lives of the adults and five children continues. Doctors have said that their condition is critical. Three children sustained minor injuries.

According to the BBC, the adults may have fought with the attacker, trying to stop him and save the children.

Eyewitnesses say a 17-year-old boy wearing a mask came to the scene of the attack. He should come by taxi. Without paying for it, he entered the community hall.

Several witnesses quoted by the BBC said they heard a woman running down the road and screaming that her daughter had been stabbed. Another witness said around ten girls managed to get out of the center and were unharmed.

Local police commissioner Emily Spurrell said she was “deeply shocked” by the tragedy. “I cannot imagine the unspeakable pain and heartbreak they are going through right now,” he added, speaking of the families of the slain children. – My thoughts go out to those injured and others affected by this attack – he added. He insisted that the attack on “innocent, defenseless children” was “absolutely unthinkable” and a “heinous crime”.

Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said the attacker was a 17-year-old boy from the Cardiff area. – He has already been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He said that he is currently at the police station where he is being interrogated.

– An assailant armed with a knife entered the dance school. He started attacking the children there. “We know that adults tried to protect their children from an attacker with their own bodies,” he added. The motive of the culprit is still unknown.
