Euphoria Season 3 to Begin Filming in January 2025

Production on the third season of “Euphoria” is officially set to begin.

The long-awaited third season of the Emmy-winning series is set to begin filming on HBO in January 2025 with all the main cast returning, according to HBO.

“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January,” said Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming and head of drama series and movies. “We couldn’t be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to audiences.”

This means that production on the third season will begin approximately three years after the second season aired. HBO had originally announced that production on the new season would be delayed to March 2024.

This delay can be attributed to several factors. These include: the writers and actors strike in 2023; the cast’s popularity growing so much that they booked themselves into multiple other projects; and creator Sam Levinson’s desire to write the entire show himself.

like diverse As previously reported, Levinson went to HBO in late 2023 or early 2024 with ideas for a third season that included a five-year time jump as well as potential story arcs for Rue such as her working as a private investigator or a pregnancy surrogate. HBO ultimately decided to press pause on the series so it could be brought into creative alignment with the previous two seasons.

The main cast of Euphoria includes Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, Alexa Demie, and Eric Dane. Angus Cloud, who starred as Fezko, passed away at the age of 25 in July 2023. Meanwhile, some cast members have already indicated that they will not be returning to the show for another season, such as Barbie Ferreira.

Zendaya serves as executive producer on “Euphoria,” while Levinson also serves as executive producer and director. Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adele “Future” Noor, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Ron Leshem, Dafna Levin, and Hadas Moses Lichtenstein also serve as executive producers. Kevin Turen was also an executive producer on the series, but he passed away at the age of 44 in November 2023.

In addition to the excellent ratings, Euphoria has proven to be a strong contender for HBO’s awards. To date, the series has received 25 Emmy nominations, nine of which it has won. Among those nominations are two for Zendaya for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and one for Colman Domingo for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
