The FBI is investigating a botched assassination attempt on the former president that left one dead and two wounded in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooter was shot dead by undercover operatives.
“I was shot by a bullet that pierced the top of my right ear, and I knew something was wrong, I heard a whistle, a gunshot, and immediately felt the bullet pierce the skin. There was a lot of bleeding, and that’s when I realized what was happening,” Trump said on his truth social site. In a post, he wrote hours after the incident. Trump also declared that he “took a bullet for democracy.”
On Thursday, FBI Director Christopher Wray told a congressional hearing that it was unclear whether Trump had been shot or “grazed” the former president’s ear or a piece of wire from the teleprompter.
“No, unfortunately it was a bullet in my ear – no glass or shrapnel,” Donald Trump responded to the FBI chief’s advice on the Truth community site.
Ronnie Jackson, Trump’s personal physician at the White House, said there was “absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a missile.”
