The much-anticipated Game Of Thrones prequel series House Of The Dragon has been given an official premiere date.
HBO announced Wednesday that the series will premiere on the network in August on HBO and HBO Max.
Along with the program’s logo image, the official House Of The Dragon Twitter account wrote: “August 21st #HouseoftheDragon”
Several new images featuring the series’ cast and crew have been released in conjunction with news of the premiere date.

The new show is based on the companion book of Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin of the same name, which chronicles the 300-year reign of House Targaryen, set before the events of the TV series and books.
Doctor Who Matt Smith has captured the lead role of dragon rider Prince Damon Targaryen, the younger brother of King Physeris.
Matt, 39, previously claimed that the new show was “really different” from Game Of Thrones because the original series would be something “impossible” to reproduce.

Miguel Sabuchek, an opponent of the series House Of The Dragon, echoed the actor’s thoughts about the upcoming sequel, who previously insisted that although the new series will “honor” its “leading” predecessor, it will have its own “tone”.
It’s not broken, said Sapochik, so we’re not trying to reinvent the wheel. House of the Dragon has its own tune that will evolve and appear throughout the show.
“But first, it’s very important to respect and honor the original series, which was so groundbreaking.”
Other confirmed cast members for House Of the Dragon include Bates Motel actress Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Wanderlust actress Emma Darcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Game Of Thrones, which premiered on HBO in 2011, aired its eighth and final season in May of 2019.
They have turned the likes of Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner and Kit Harington into household names over the course of nearly a decade on the premium cable network.
Casey Bloys, chief content officer at HBO, recently offered some new updates on the Game Of Thrones spin-off in an interview with TV Line, while hinting at the potential for more spin-offs in the works.
