German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced in the ARD program “Maischberger” that Russia is producing more weapons than it needs for the war in Ukraine. – Most of the newly produced weapons do not go forward, but go to warehouses, he said.
According to him, the hyperactivity of the arms industry may be related to what the Russian dictator is planning. – Now you can be naive and say that he is only doing it cautiously. As a skeptic, I would say he is doing it because he is planning something or will plan something in the future, he said.
According to him, the whole of NATO will be affected if the enlargement takes place. “We must protect ourselves to fight the war that is being forced upon us,” Pistorius said.
The German minister has long sounded the alarm
He has previously said that the armed forces must be “ready for war”. – The goal is to rebuild Bundeswehr in its structures so that it is optimally prepared for even the most extreme case, […] In the event of war, the politician said in early April.
In an interview with “Welt am Sonntag” in December, he also drew attention to Russia's increased weapons production. “We have five to eight years to rearm the military, industry and society,” he said.
He warned of possible “military threats in Europe”, with particular emphasis on the Baltic states, Moldova and Georgia.
