German company Rheinmetall AG received an order from an unspecified European customer for several hundred barrels for PzH 2000 self-propelled gun howitzers.
The exact value of the signed contract has not been disclosed, although the price is known to be several hundred million euros. Delivery of howitzer barrels will be carried out in 2024-29. They are part of the company’s wider initiative, which aims to accelerate the production of military equipment, components, ammunition and spare parts in response to a significant increase in demand. Currently, in Europe, countries using the PzH 2000 are: Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Lithuania, Croatia, Hungary and Ukraine. The ordering party is often the first country to purchase the barrels for its own needs.
Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000) The Krauss-Maffei was a German self-propelled gun howitzer developed by Wegmann, Maschinenbau Kiel and Rheinmetall to replace the aging M109A3G for the German armed forces. The design uses elements of the Leopard 2 tank, making it easier to serve in countries that use both vehicles. The range is estimated to be over 40 km (depending on the ammunition used). This result can be improved to over 50 km when using the M982 Excalibur or M2005 V-LAP. In this respect, the PzH 2000 shares many features with other NATO howitzers such as the Polish AHS Krab or the French Caesar with a barrel of 155 mm caliber and 52 calibers.

60 missiles are placed in the hull ammunition magazine, and 67 sets of modular propulsion forces are located in the rear of the turret behind the armor partition. The PzH 2000 is characterized by a high rate of fire due to the automatic bullet loading mechanism. Can fire 3 shots in 9 seconds and 10 shots in 56 seconds. Depending on the degree of barrel heat, the practical rate of fire may be 10 to 13 shots per minute. The PzH 2000 is in service with Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Ukraine. Kiev received howitzers from Germany, the Netherlands and Italy as part of its military aid.
