The latest dungeon in Destiny 2, Warlord RuinsIt’s a hit. Players describe it as one of the best dungeon crawlers Bungie has done in years, ascending through a Dark Souls-esque castle filled with traps and angry disdain, filled with secrets and with three rare full bosses to fight across all three encounters. A prison cell is very annoying to know how to escape if you do it blindly.
So, we have our usual three encounters, all just bosses this time, and the loot pool is distributed the way we normally see it in dungeons, where certain places drop certain pieces of gear as you try to farm certain weapons or put together an entire dungeon’s armor set. Here are the loot collections:
First encounter: Rathiel
- Dragon Cult Scythe (strand sword)
- Vengeful Whisper (Kinetic Arc)
- Indebted Kindness (Special Missile Weapon)
- Dark Age Mask (helmet)
- Dark Age Fists (Arms)
- Dark Age Steps (legs)
The second meeting: the place of wailing and sadness
- Neem Spear (Sniper Strand)
- Vengeful Whisper (Kinetic Arc)
- Indebted Kindness (Special Missile Weapon)
- Dark Age Fists (Arms)
- Dark era belt (chest)
- Dark Age class item
Third Encounter: Heaven’s Revenge
- Buried Bloodline (Strange Void Weapon)
- Dragon Cult Scythe (strand sword)
- Indebted Kindness (Special Missile Weapon)
- Neem Spear (Sniper Strand)
- All armor pieces
So, in this case, there are a few things worth noting. If you’re looking for the unique rocket-powered Indebted Kindness weapon, it drops from all three encounters so you can farm any of the weapons you want, or just run the full dungeon. They certainly did it on purpose. Secondly, all of the armor pieces can be found in the first two encounters if you don’t want to do a full walkthrough if you just want specific pieces.
If there is He is There is one complaint about the dungeon, perhaps the loot itself, which except for the new rocket pistol and the odd crossbow, the other stuff wasn’t exactly to my liking. It’s also, again, all a reproduction of past years’ equipment. The armor set is nice, but not the best we’ve seen from a dungeon. But hey, at least it’s actually fun to play with.
Players are already working on their speedrunning and solo strategies, and I wonder if from now on, the same rhythm of frequent dungeon shooting and raids will continue in the episodic model, alternating in each season during the year. With one season to go by, it seems likely that this will change in some way. So enjoy this dungeon because it may be the last we see for a long time.
