“Beverly Hills, 90210” co-stars Ian Ziering, Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty and Brian Austin Green. An Instagram post from Ziering was responded to Details of the events of the New Year's Eve biker gang attack.
The “Sharknado” star condemned law enforcement, saying their slow response time forced him to take matters into his own hands.
“Yesterday I was involved in a disturbing accident involving a group of individuals on scooters. While I was stuck in traffic, one of these passengers aggressively approached my vehicle resulting in a disturbing confrontation,” Ziering, 59, wrote on Monday. No damage came out of my car. Unfortunately, this behavior developed into a physical altercation, which I resorted to to protect myself.”
The young man told 90210 that although he and his 12-year-old daughter — who was in the back seat at the time of the attack — were fine, “the incident has left me very concerned about the increasing audacity of such groups disrupting public safety and peace.”
Ziering said the unprovoked attack “highlights the larger issue of rioting on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior.”
“I urge city officials and law enforcement authorities to take decisive action against such chaos and provide the necessary resources to prevent its recurrence in the future,” he concluded. “I am grateful for the support of my family, friends, and fans during this time. It is in challenging moments like these that the strength and unity of our community is most important. Happy New Year.”
Since the video was posted on Monday, Priestley, 54, and Doherty, 52, have both liked the post.
On Tuesday, Brian Austin Green issued his own statement praising his co-star's efforts.
“Hey, I haven't had a chance to go into this at all,” Green, 50, said on his Instagram Story. “My son Ian Ziering got into a fistfight on Hollywood Boulevard with five guys, and — f**king like 'em beat 'em up, did it, did his thing.”
“He's a monster. He's an incredibly fit king, obviously. I wouldn't suggest anyone fight people, especially now in this climate,” he continued. “But you know what? Everything went well. “Z, I love you bro, you're a monster, good on you.”
The Post has reached out to Priestley and Doherty for additional comment.
