After months of trying, the Dolphins and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa have reached a new deal.

Here’s everything on the four-year contract extension, and the five-year overall contract:
1. Signing bonus: $42 million.
2. Base salary for 2024: $1.125 million, fully guaranteed.
3. 2025 roster bonus: $25 million, fully guaranteed.
4. 2025 off-season training bonus: $250,000.
5. 2025 base salary: $25.046 million, fully guaranteed.
6. Active Roster Bonus Per Game 2025: $750,000, Total.
7. 2026 off-season training bonus: $250,000.
8. 2026 base salary: $54 million, guaranteed in case of injury and fully guaranteed in 2025.
9. 2026 Active Roster Bonus Per Game: $750,000, total.
10. 2027 off-season training bonus: $250,000.
11. 2027 roster bonus: $5 million.
12. Base salary for 2027: $31 million, including $20 million guaranteed for injury. In 2026, $3 million becomes fully guaranteed. In 2027, another $17 million is awarded.
13. Active Roster Bonus Per Game 2027: $750,000, Total.
14. 2028 off-season training bonus: $250,000.
15. 2028 roster bonus: $7 million.
16. Base salary in 2028: $41.4 million.

The deal also includes $9 million in potential incentives, from 2025 to 2028. Each year, he could receive: (1) $250,000 for 50% of regular-season playing time and 50% of wild-card winning time; (2) $500,000 for 50% of regular-season playing time and 50% of divisional winning time; (3) $500,000 for 50% of regular-season playing time and 50% of conference-championship winning time; and (4) $1 million for 50% of regular-season playing time and 50% of Super Bowl winning time.
The contract includes a full $93.171 million guarantee at signing, a $147.171 million performance guarantee, with another $54 million due in 2026 and 2025.
It’s a three-year commitment with Tua, with just $3 million in guarantees that will run through 2027, if the Dolphins decide to move on.
However, if they decide to go ahead, he will end up making over $150 million over those three years.
The new money averages $53.1 million. Combined with the current salary of $23.171 million through 2024, the deal is a five-year deal worth $47.11 million per year upon signing.
