Jay Leno was hit by a police vehicle multiple times as he stopped to attend his comeback party Sunday in California — after more than two weeks. He suffers from third degree burns While working on a classic car in his garage.
The 72-year-old comics and classic car enthusiast hit a police jeep tire on the rear right tire of his Tesla while trying to park in front of a Hermosa Beach comedy club, and video shows.
Then Leno inexplicably backed up and hit the car a second time.
“You can just go, we’ll find out later,” the star-studded cops told the A-lister after his wife, Mavis Leno, rolled out the passenger window to talk to them.
Leno then struggled to pull off an easy parking lot, opting to parallel park in front of Comedy Magic Club instead of just pulling into a wide open lot, while paparazzi and fans looked on.
The former “Tonight Show” host needed to change gears four times to get into position, and he almost hit the curb at one point, video Of non-graceful access published by Lion News showed.
Despite the awkward entrance, Leno was all smiles and wise as he exited his car, unharmed despite his serious ordeal.
“Did you rub your tire?” he asked the policemen who were standing in front of the car, before bending over to check his car for possible damage.
“Yeah, no, it’s okay,” Leno said before making self-deprecating jokes on the points.
“The National Enquirer got the story wrong. They said I was in the hospital because Nancy Pelosi hit me on the head with a hammer. That wasn’t what happened.”
“We got two treats tonight: regular crispy and super crispy,” he cracked when asked about his nerves.
“I never thought of myself as a stand-up comedian,” the manipulator continued.
