Jennifer Love Hewitt spoke out about the hate she received on social media after she cut her hair in… finale episode From the “Inside of You” podcast, where she shared that she felt like she “couldn’t do the right thing” when it came to aging in the public eye.
The “9-1-1” star, 44, debuted a much shorter haircut in August, with fans flooding the comments section of her now-deleted Instagram post with comments questioning whether she had undergone plastic surgery.
“Aging in Hollywood is really hard,” Hewitt told host Michael Rosenbaum, as she shared the story of how she “threw a filter” while getting her hair done because she “wasn’t wearing makeup.”
“It was just a filter that looked nice at the time in the light at the salon. I didn’t really think about it,” she said.
The “Ghost Whisperer” actress continued, “The photo ended up somewhere,” saying, “A group of people said, ‘Jennifer Love Hewitt is unrecognizable.’ She is unrecognizable, so she resorted to filters because she didn’t want us to know how bad she was.” Her appearance now is that she is in her forties.
Hewitt added that the response was “crazy,” and said she decided to respond using the phrase “over the top” and
“Crazy filters”, but that went wrong too.
“I was like, ‘It’s all natural, no filter,’ like trying to make fun of it, and then they came after me for it and they were like, ‘Well, now she’s just standing up for herself…’ and I realized I can’t do what’s right,” she said.
When Rosenbaum asked her why she “focuses so much on these a-holes who have nothing better to do than disappoint you,” Hewitt replied, “Because to pretend we don’t is a lie.”
The Party of Five went on to say that in Hollywood, “you don’t want to care what people think about you, but you have to care what people think about you.”
For more Page Six style…
Hewitt admitted that fans tend to think of you a certain way forever, sharing that she’s “Swifty” and that Taylor Swift once said that “people freeze you,” which makes it difficult for celebrities to change or age.
Many fans defended the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” star on the podcast tik tok comments, With one writing, “It looks great on me. Not old. 40 is not old.”
“Aging is a hard time, but yes, those who have the spotlight/paparazzi on them and scrutinize every little thing are just crazy! Everyone gets older!” another fan wrote.
Others doubled down on the “unknown” front, like this one who wrote: “I thought it was someone talking about Jennifer Love Hewitt here. I didn’t know it was her.”
“She definitely looks different. Gorgeous!” But she is different,” another fan agreed.
Whether filtered or not, this star is always glowing.
