As the AP agency writes, a new survey conducted by the AP-NORC Public Affairs Research Center showsAbout 60 percent of Democrats think Kamala Harris would do well as president. In turn, 20 percent believe they cannot handle the situation, and 20 percent say they don’t know enough to answer.
As for Americans in general, not just Democrats, they are more skeptical of Kamala Harris. Only about 30 percent of American adults think Harris would do well as president. Half say Harris can’t handle the role. 20 percent say they don’t know enough to answer.
After Biden’s loss during the June 27 debate, many Democrats privately and publicly expected Harris to replace Biden, believing he had a better chance against GOP nominee Donald Trump.
Kamala Harris is less popular among whites and Latinos
Harris’ favorable rating is about the same as Biden’s, but the percentage of Americans who have a negative opinion of him is slightly lower.
The survey found that about 40 percent of American adults have a positive opinion of Harris, while about half have an unfavorable opinion. More Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Biden: about 60%.
Harris is more popular among black Americans than among white and Latino adults. It is often rated more negatively by men than by women.
