Madonna, who postponed the start of her concert tour in July after recovering from a bacterial infection, has announced new dates for her live shows.
The Icon tour was originally supposed to start in North America and then visit Europe; Now North American dates will take place after performing in Europe. The tour will officially kick off in London on October 14th and will make its US debut on December 13th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Tickets to previously scheduled shows on the new dates will be honored, though five shows have been canceled — in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Phoenix and Nashville. Refunds will be issued at the original point of purchase. “Madonna regrets the inconvenience caused to fans and hopes to reach those markets in the future,” Live Nation said in a statement.
Madonna was supposed to perform at Madison Square Garden on August 27. Alternatively, ticket holders for this show will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the show on December 26 at Barclays Centre. In Los Angeles, those with tickets to Madonna’s pre-scheduled shows at the Crypto.com Arena and Kia Forum will get the chance to purchase tickets for her five new shows, in March 2024, at the Kia Forum before the audience.
Two weeks before the start of her concert tour, Madonna’s manager said that the singer was expected to recover from a bacterial infection that led to a stay in the hospital for several days. Guy Oseary confirmed she was admitted to the intensive care unit on June 24 to be treated for the infection.
Since then, Madonna has shared multiple messages on social media, thanking her family and friends for their support during her recovery.
“Love from family and friends is the best medicine,” she wrote on Instagram. “One month out of the hospital and I can think. As a mom, you can really get caught up in your kids’ needs and the seemingly endless giving…………..but when the chips were down, my kids really showed up for me. I saw a side I hadn’t seen before. It made all the difference.”
She ended her letter by thanking “all my angels who have protected me and let me stay till I finish my work!”
